"I am half agony, half hope. ― Jane Austen, Persuasion
I felt this sentiment often as I was working on this quilt as it was my first large free motion quilting attempt.
When "Ardently Austen" from Riley Blake fabrics became available I knew I had to have it! As a die hard Jane Austen fan, it was the perfect combination of my two passions: reading and quilting. If only I could do both at the same time!! Since this was my first lap throw size quilt that I had ever attempted to free motion, I decided to do a simple checkerboard design using a layer cake (10X10 inch squares of each of the prints from the collection). I added a few prints here and there to make the quilt a little larger, and I pieced the backing to make it a little more interesting (and to save fabric of course). I love how this turned out and I am hoping it goes to a good home to a fellow Janeite. This quilt is available in my Etsy shop HERE.
